STUDENT E-MAIL IS COMING TO ACC IN THE FALL SEMESTER 2008

We are pleased to announce that ACC will begin providing e-mail addresses to all students who register for the fall semester.  This new service will be provided in partnership with Google and ACC, and the student e-mail addresses will be unique to ACC.  Additional details will be announced soon.  In the meantime, for more information, please contact Mary Hensley (223-7618), Gary Weseman (223-1199), or Richard Smith (223-7792).

ACC has partnered with Google to provide all students registering for the fall semester with an ACC-branded email address – student@g.austincc.edu. This new service will provide a uniform method for students, faculty and staff to communicate. The service is free to the college, offers 24 x 7 support from Google, there is NO advertising to students, and students can maintain the services for life.

STUDENT GOOGLE E-MAIL COMING TO ACC THIS FALL - UPDATE

ACC has partnered with Google to provide all students registering for the fall semester with an ACC-branded e-mail address – student@g.austincc.edu.  This new service will provide a uniform method for students, faculty, and staff to communicate.  The service is free to the college, there is no advertising to students, and students can maintain the services for life. 

For the fall semester, the new student e-mail addresses will be used for person-to-person communication.  The official channel of communication between the College and students will remain the US Mail.

ACC will begin creating the new student e-mail accounts on Friday, August 22nd at 8:00 a. m.  This will ensure that the accounts are available on the first day of class – August 25th.  

Please Note:  The student-provided e-mail addresses currently stored in Datatel will be replaced with the new Google Aps for Education e-mail addresses.

ACCmail: Email for Students – Update!...

ACC will implement Google Apps email for students on September 15 rather than August 22.  This will provide more time for faculty, staff, and students to become familiar with the new student ACCmail.

Notifications planned for the week of August 18 will occur as follows:

·        Admissions & Records will send postcards to all, Fall 2008, registered students to inform them about the new ACCmail email system

·        Information Technology will send email to all students who have a self-reported email address in Datatel when their new ACCmail account is created.

·        Marketing flyers and posters will be available for display in all public areas on campus

·        Notices are posted on the Online Services webpage

·        Notices are included in Registration confirmation emails.

·        Notices will be posted on the ACC, Blackboard, IRT and IT homepages.

·        ACCmail student email support site will be available from the ACC homepage.

SUBJECT: ACCmail: Email for Students - REMINDER

ACC will begin creating Google Apps student email accounts today, September 12.  This will assure that all actively enrolled students will have their accounts created and in Blackboard by Monday, September 15.

Please encourage all students to begin using their g.austincc.edu email account.  ACC will be sending important information to students using these accounts, including emergency closings, emergency notices, etc.
